Video repair guide

How to fix choppy video, freeze frames and skipped frames

First check whether the stutter is in the video file or only in playback. MotionFixer repairs timing faults inside uploaded footage; it does not fix a slow internet connection or an overloaded video player.

Is the video file actually choppy?

  1. Download the original file instead of judging a streaming preview. Play it in another player and compare the same timestamp.
  2. Step through the frames in an editor. A repeated image followed by a sudden jump suggests a source timing fault. A still camera or a deliberately motionless scene is not automatically a freeze-frame error.
  3. If the source plays smoothly but an export stutters, check the editor’s sequence and export frame rates before modifying the source. If the fault exists only in one player, investigate playback first.

Freeze or repeated frames

Motion holds for several frames and then catches up. Repair requires usable motion before and after the hold.

Skipped or dropped frames

An object or the camera jumps ahead between adjacent frames. The missing moment must be estimated, not recovered as an original recording.

Repair source-file stutter with MotionFixer

For AI-generated shots from tools such as Kling, Veo, Runway or Seedance, work from the original MP4 or MOV. The generator’s name does not guarantee a repair; the available frames determine what can be reconstructed.

  1. Create an account and upload your source video to a private project.
  2. The service scans for timing faults and processes detected regions automatically. There is no manual frame selection.
  3. When processing produces a validated final file, download it. Read any warning about unrepaired regions: those moments retain the original frames.
  4. Play the result at the original frame rate and check the previously affected timestamps. Keep your original file as well.

Camera judder and stepping objects are different faults

A camera hitch affects the movement of the whole image. A stepping car or aircraft can stall while the background keeps moving. MotionFixer separates camera motion from tracked object motion; when both are affected, it processes camera timing first and then evaluates remaining object faults.

Object tracking is not a guarantee of correction. Small, obscured or changing shapes may not provide enough reliable information. An object repair can be rejected even when camera motion improves.

What stays intact, and what cannot be guaranteed?

  • Final output is checked for source resolution, frame rate, frame count and duration. Synthesized frames can differ from the source.
  • MP4-compatible audio is copied. Incompatible source audio, including PCM from some MOV files, is converted to AAC for the MP4 output.
  • Uploads and results are private to the account. Do not share temporary preview or download links. Media is automatically deleted after seven days.

Long freezes without a clean following frame, occluded objects, turning faces, spinning blades, water and smoke may remain faulty. MotionFixer is not a full-video generative redraw tool, a corrupt-file recovery utility or a promise of 100% artifact-free motion.
